Cape Region junior golfers sought for Rehoboth Beach Junior Open
April 28, 2017
The Rehoboth Beach Junior Open is a long-running fixture on the Cape Region sporting calendar. However, for the last several years the Open has been part of a Junior Tour operated by Philadelphia Section of the PGA, and local participation has diminished a bit.
The club professionals at RBCC hope to increase the number of local juniors in the Open by stressing that membership in the Junior Tour is not required.
RBCC Assistant golf professional George Bushby said the only requirement is to obtain an entry form from the Section’s website, print it out, and mail it in with the appropriate fee. Go to phpgajr.bluegolf.com and the Junior Tour Schedule, and click on the apply link for the JGA Rehoboth Junior Open for June 19.

Wet and Windy Rehoboth Beach Pro-Am
The old adage about April showers came true once again at the Delaware State Golf Association’s April 24 Rehoboth Beach Pro-Am, as a steady rain kept up for most of the afternoon round.
RBCC Head Pro Pat Mastrian led the local pro contingent with his 3d place finish, behind winner Chris Gray and Greyson Rossi. George Bushby, RBCC’s assistant pro, tied for 4th, and The Rookery’s Chris Osberg came in 6th.
Bushby’s pro-am group, including Karl Saliba, Joe Crispin, and Connor Jones, finished in second place low net in the team competition. Rookery Head Pro Butch Holtzclaw’s team, with Chris Adkins, Jamie Davis, and Ed Brown came in fifth net.
DWGA holds shortened Bash to the Beach
Rainy weather also caused problems for the Delaware Women’s Golf Association’s Bash to the Beach, held at Kings Creek Country Club April 24. The second round at Cripple Creek Country Club was cancelled.
Sandy Scitti won overall gross, with Celeste Beaupre winning overall net.
Mo Gallagher won the first flight gross, with Shelly Pinkerton taking first flight net.
Margaret Love-O’Hern won the second flight gross, and Mo Reardon won second flight net.
Sue Bardsley won the third flight gross, and Jeannine Doane won third flight net.
Katie Heintz won the fourth flight gross, and Nan Martino won fourth flight net.
Colleen Hacker was closest to the hole on the eighth green, and Susan McNab was closest on the sixteenth green.
