Kevin McTigue (r) of Lewes is a good friend, an avid golfer, and equally avid thrift shopper who considers my annual “Don’t Buy Me This Golf Stuff” column as a personal challenge to ignore completely. He recently presented me with a Golf Ball Dog, a craft project using 7 used golf balls and some felt fabric for the ears and nose.

The Rookery
The Rookery’s pro shop at 27052 Broadkill Road offers several sales options, including summer shirts at 25% off. In-stock golf bags are 35% off and golf shoes are available at up to 50% off.
In addition to gift certificates, the club also sells a limited quantity of discounted golf lessons from director of golf Butch Holtzclaw and head golf pro Kyle Deas, at $10 off the usual $60 hourly rate.

Cape Henlopen High alum Mike Connor is the head golf pro at Seaford’s public golf course.

Southern Delaware Golf Club
The golf course at the former Shawnee Country Club at 6152 South Rehoboth Boulevard in Milford reopened this year after a major renovation by its new owners.
The SDGC golf shop is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day, with the first time at 9:00 a.m.

The Foreland Club
The Cape Region’s first 24/7, fully indoor golf club opened earlier this year at 24 Village Green Drive in Ocean View, across the street from Bear Trap Dunes.
PGA pro Dustin Smale’s Trackman simulators provide access to over 250 championship golf courses as well as practice options. Lessons and custom fitted clubs from all major equipment manufacturers are available from resident pro Ryan Diehl of Eastern Shore Custom Club.

Mulligan’s Pointe

Bob and Wendy Stenger’s charming par 3 golf layout at 22222 Saw Mill Road west of Milton celebrated its 20thanniversary last May. It is a fun place for beginners and seasoned players working on the short game.
Greens fees are $18 and pull cart rentals are only a dollar.
