Upcoming charity events on Cape Region summer golf calendar
June 29, 2018
The Cape Region summer golf season is well underway and presents several charity fundraiser tournament opportunities.
July 9 is the deadline for entries in Pinky Returns 2018, the 11thAnnual Beach Girls Golf Outing and After-Party held at Kings Creek Country Club July 30.
The event supports the Julie Dickson Foundation, which is aimed at helping women and girls with academics, business pursuits, and athletics.
“Pinky” refers to the pink ball each golfer in each foursome must use on alternating holes in the scramble format tournament. Another interesting wrinkle is that players are randomly assigned, with partners and “besties” spread out among the foursomes. This is a good way to expand the networking opportunities that these fundraisers provide.
Registration and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. and the after-party at 2:00 p.m.
The $120 entry fee covers the golf, prizes, a grab-and-go breakfast, and the after-party. Friends of Golfers (FOGS) can join the after-party for $25.
For more information, visit the Foundation’s website at juliedicksonfoundation.org.
The 8thAnnual Eleanor Soltner Memorial Golf Outing takes place Aug. 1 at Rookery North in Milford. The event benefits the Delaware Hospice organization.
The day’s schedule begins with a light breakfast, registration, and the opening of the range opening at 7:30 a.m. The shotgun start is at 9:00 a.m., with a lunch and silent auction at 1:00 p.m. The awards reception starts at 1:30 p.m.
There are several prize categories, and the tournament organizers are seeking additional donations for goodie bags, the silent auction, and door prizes.
The basic entry fee is $100 per golfer, but additional levels of support are available.

The Cape Henlopen Senior Center is holding its annual Golf Outing Saturday, Sept. 29 at the American Classic Golf Club near Lewes. The $65 registration fee includes greens fees, cart, breakfast, lunch, and a goodie bag.
The Center is a 502 C-3 nonprofit that provides a variety of services and programs for Sussex County seniors.
In addition to contests and prizes during the round, there will be a mini-silent auction following the lunch, with a more extensive auction offering held at the Cape Henlopen Senior Center.
The Center is seeking sponsors for hole sponsorships, the meals and beverage cart, as well as prizes and silent auction items, such as gift cards.
For more information or to register or donate, contact Linda or Bobbie at the Center at 302-227-2055.
